There is nothing like a bit of festive creativity to get you in the Christmas spirit! These workshops each cover different techniques to create something wonderfully seasonal, either for yourself or as a gift. All of the workshops also introduce you to skills you can apply to other projects!
These workshops will only come round at a certain time of year, and will take place at The Colour Factory Studios in Winchester, Hampshire. If you’d like to read more about an individual workshop, have a look through the links below. If you’d like to ask any questions, feel free to get in contact.
Wander on down to The Colour Factory to design a little series of etched, copper baubles. Spend the evening sipping mulled wine, (or an equally festive non-alcoholic drink) and enjoying seasonal snacks whilst drawing out designs, before being shown how to scribe them into the surface of up to three ready-prepped baubles and gain an insight into the etching process.
In the following few days, Emily will kickstart the etching and finish the baubles up for you to adorn your home in plenty of time before Christmas!
This session takes you on a little journey of wax carving!
We’ll start by brainstorming a few ideas that are simple, festive and lend themselves to the casting process well. Covering all of the techniques you need to carve a 3D piece, Emily will guide you through creating your seasonal shape in wax and how to give it a lovely finish to optimise the casting! It will then be sent for casting, giving you a silver decoration AND a bronze decoration.
Once they return, Emily will finish them up, add the little rings to thread the ribbon through and get them packaged up ready to post or collect before Christmas.
These could be kept for yourself or gifted to a loved one; Emily can supply lovely, little boxes for them too!
“As much as I enjoy a pair of garish, tinsel, light-up Christmas earrings, they aren’t an accessory that you can wear all year round. I’ve decided to take a series of subtle festive imagery and create some sophisticated, slightly unusual pieces of jewellery that can be worn especially for this seasonal time, or all year round.” {Intro to Emily’s Festive Earring Description}
The session begins with an insight into Emily’s festive design process (click here to see some examples). You’ll be introduced to a process that will help you loosen up and design a series of seasonal earrings: starting with a selection of Christmassy and wintry motifs or images that remind you of this time of year, you will be shown a specific process for generating a variety of ideas for contemporary earrings. You will choose from the designs and Emily will support you in recreating those drawings in wire and transforming them into earrings!
