I’ve known the lovely lady who commissioned this piece ever since I was little. She came to me with a little bundle of gold, including some belonging to her late mother and late husband. Some of these hallmarks were going back to the 1940’s.
She had seen and really liked a pendant from my ‘Home’ project; we shared a little laugh about how it resembled her wonderfully eccentric husband, who sadly passed away a few years ago.
I felt that drawing on the aforementioned collection would be so fitting for such a special project. It was based off of the idea of “Home”; this idea being that home is a warm feeling of contentedness found amongst the people you love.
The fact that this pendant literally encompasses little components of all these significant people in this delightful lady’s life creates a far more intense impact that I ever could with merely the idea.
A very sentimental piece indeed.
