Each may take their own interpretation on these little curiosities, but for me, these represent a communication between people.
They move together, they move apart, but they’re always connected.

I wouldn’t consider this work to have a nailed-down meaning. Nevertheless, to me, these pieces represent a connection between people, whether it be representative of a friendship, relationship or family connection. The pieces move together and apart, but they are always connected, metaphorically and physically.
When I look at them, I see the wonderful people I got to know a few summers ago on my travels. I may not see them or talk to them often, but when we all come together, the atmosphere is buzzing with pure joy and it’s like no time has ever passed. I see the people who helped me well on the way to being the person I always wanted to be. I see my mum, the shining beacon that truly represents the feeling of home. I see the friends that I grew up with, who shaped the foundations of who I am today. We may grow up and apart but we’ll always have our intertwined roots. I see my family in Australia, who I may not regularly see nor talk to, but among them, it’s like I was raised there. I see the incredible university family who have helped me grow and taught me so much about myself and life in general. I no longer see them every day, they are no longer across the hallway, in the next workshop or a 15 minute walk down the road. But as with all of the other people mentioned above, whether near or far, there’s an everlasting connection, a wondrous something that keeps us interlinked and rooted. They’ve shaped so much of my being and I know we’ll meet again.
