“As much as I enjoy a pair of garish, tinsel, light-up Christmas earrings, they aren’t an accessory that you can wear all year round. I’ve decided to take a series of subtle festive imagery and create some sophisticated, slightly unusual pieces of jewellery that can be worn especially for this seasonal time, or all year round.” {Intro to Emily’s Festive Earring Description}
The session begins with an insight into Emily’s festive design process (click here to see some examples). You’ll be introduced to a process that will help you loosen up and design a series of seasonal earrings: starting with a selection of Christmassy and wintry motifs or images that remind you of this time of year, you will be shown a specific process for generating a variety of ideas for contemporary earrings. You will choose from the designs and Emily will support you in recreating those drawings in wire and transforming them into earrings!
Processes covered include designing, piercing, filing, forming, soldering multiple components, tidying up a piece and finishing.
This workshop takes place on Wednesday 11th December between 2-5pm and 6-9pm. Materials (silver, copper and brass wire) will be included; this will allow you to make up to two pairs of earrings, depending on the complexity of your idea. These could be kept for yourself or gifted to a loved one; Emily can supply lovely, little boxes for them! Suitably festive refreshments also provided - make sure to get in touch with any allergies you may have!
This workshop will take place at The Colour Factory in Winchester in a dedicated jewellery space, pictured above. Whilst a lovely space, it only has the capacity for 5 participants so make sure to be quick if you’d like to take part in this workshop!
Suitable for absolute beginners, folks who want to practise their skills or just have a lovely, chilled creative session!
